Plamen Monev was born in 1961 in Beloslav, Bulgaria. In 1980 he graduated at the National High School of Plastic Arts and Design “Academician Dechko Uzunov” in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. In 1988 he graduated the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria from the class of prof. Peter Mihaylov.
Plamen Monev works in the field of oil painting, graphics, and illustration. His is the project for the mosaic icon of St. Nikolay Chudotvorets at the lighthouse in Varna, Bulgaria. He participates in exhibitions, biennials, and plein airs in Canada, USA, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Belarus, and, of course, Bulgaria.
In 1993 he receives The World Foundation award at the VII International Print Biennial in Varna, Bulgaria.
In 2013 he designed the canvases and interior arrangements for the Educational Museum at the Regional Historic Museum in Varna, Bulgaria.
